Complete the next steps towards receiving your accredited Australian Kodály Certificate and gain the skills and knowledge to deliver a sequential, developmental, and aural-based music curriculum. In this rigorous course, you will undertake studies in Musicianship, Primary Pedagogy, Materials, Practicum, Conducting and Choir.
There will be 18 Monday evening zoom classes (2 hours each) and 2 in-person study weekends in Brisbane.

Unfortunately, we will not be offering the AKC intensive weekends in Mackay this year.

Complete the next steps towards receiving your accredited Australian Kodály Certificate and gain the skills and knowledge to deliver a sequential, developmental, and aural-based music curriculum. In this rigorous course, you will undertake studies in Musicianship, Primary Pedagogy, Materials, Practicum, Conducting and Choir.

Students can enrol for assessment or for audit.

  • Assessment students complete all assessments and receive detailed feedback on all their tasks. There is also a 90% attendance expectation for the course.
  • Audit students do not complete any assessment, are able to observe all lectures and there isn’t any participation expectation.

Certificates are provided at completion, showing up to 60 hours of professional development.

The courses are designed to be sequential and development in nature, so levels are to be undertaken in order – you must have completed Level One before undertaking Level Two. To find out more about the curriculum, go to https://kodaly.org.au/akc/curriculum/

Peer education is an important part of the training, and the course is delivered by experienced and accredited lecturers who are working teachers and experts in their specific field of Kodály study.

Tess Laird is the Primary One Pedagogy, Practicum, Materials lecturer.

Carla Trott is the Primary Two Pedagogy, Practicum, Materials lecturer.

Susan Creese is the Advanced Musicianship and Advanced Conducting lecturer.

Jennifer Teh is the Beginner Musicianship, Beginner Conducting and Choir lecturer.

The course will have:

15 hours of Musicianship (at your chosen level)

15 hours of Methods

10 hours of Choir

10 hours of Conducting (at your chosen level)

5 hours of Practicum

5 hours of Materials
